Lake Buena Vista– It’s time to uncover another set of High School Sullivan winners. But as we embark on this great journey again, we thought we’d give you a glimpse into what this award has meant for the two award winners. It’s more than a check written out to their college or university.

Here’s what 2010 female winner Sarah Biddle shared:

I want to say a sincere and deep thank you to the Sullivan Committee. I am forever humbled to have gotten this award, to be approached by total strangers who know of this and congratulate on my win. I am working to encourage other athletes to prepare for the application process for the High School Sullivan Award here in the near future and for them to know it is more than just something that is awarded simply for athletic success, but in a well balanced and service to others mindset.

I am completing my application for the National Guards which has a combined program to compliment my application into ROTC this coming fall. I will go off to basic training in Columbia, South Carolina just like my father, go onto an A. I.T. school and then arrive back at Maranatha two weeks already into the school term for 2012.  I have been always cognizant that my actions are watched by many and seek to maintain a good testimony in the mantle I carry as a High School Sullivan Award winner.

I am studying full time in the Registered Nurses track here, making good grades and applying many of the lessons I learned along the way that helped in so many areas of success.  I have been invited to speak at different organizations now and in front of groups to tell of my Sullivan win and many other accomplishments I have achieved thus far, emphasizing it is never all about me, but in the service to others where the greatest success is achieved.

I am forever grateful again of the faith and trust that has been given to me by the Sullivan Committee and seek to honor and validate that trust on a daily basis.

Professionally,

Sarah Faye Biddle
