The Martin Luther King Jr. Kickoff Classic volleyball tournament got under way Saturday at 15 different sites in Lancaster County. A total of 351 teams, compared of girls from 12-18, are entered in the tournament, which continues today and concludes Monday. Some 9,000 people are expected to attend, staying at 38 lodging properties in the area and creating an estimated economic impact of $6.5-7 million, according to the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau. Nine portable wooden floors have been assembled in the main exhibition hall of the convention center, which is the tournament's headquarters. The tournament is sanctioned by the Keystone Region Volleyball Association.
